Use the "Load Audio File" up above and pick your audio file. It's just that simple.
At set intervals, the player will save your audio file's positon. When you come back, just reload your audio and the player will remember where you left off.
This player will only remember your position in this browser on this device. If you go to another computer, it won't remember where you left off. If you wipe out cookies or use Incognito mode/private mode, it won't work.
Additionally, the system can only play one file at a time. I recommend using a file joiner (MP3 Joiner) to put all your audio files for one book into a single file.
The player does not work with Audible audiobooks. There are, however, workarounds for taking your Audible audiobooks offline and turing them into MP3s.
No.
It's only stored in the browser's local memory. I don't have the server capacity to store everyone's audio. That's why you have to reload your audio every visit.
Right now, the player has been tested with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on Windows. I do not have access to a Mac or Linux machine, but I would assume it should work on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari on those operating systems. If you have a Mac or Linux box and can test those browsers, please let me know if they do (or do not) work.
That's up to your browser. This player is just using the built-in AUDIO element in HTML5. So, if your browser supports an audio type, this player should as well. The following are file types I've gotten to work on my Windows computer:
Technically...Yes. However, you would be much better off getting an app like Smart Audiobook Player on your mobile device. The mobile browser won't let audio play when the device's screen is off. It'd be more trouble than it's worth.
By using the browser's local storage, the player keeps track of the filename and the position you last listened to your audio. When you come back, it just pulls that up and reuses it. It's pretty rudimentary HTML and nothing fancy. There's some jQuery along with some custome javascript. Beyond that, it's just the audio function in HTML5. I'm not storing anything on my site (except the player's code). That's why, when you move computers, your progress won't move with you.
